The US Mint has released photos of the American Women quarter dollar from 2024. The U.S. Mint's four-year program showcasing different quarters, authorized by Public Law 116-330, returns in 2024 with a new set of five coins honoring pioneering women in American history.
Maya Angelou, Dr. Sally Ride, Wilma Mankiller, Nina Otero-Warren, and Anna May Wong are honored in 2022 quarters. In 2023, quarters honor Bessie Coleman, Edith Kanakaʻole, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jovita Idar, and Maria Tallchief. The 25-cent coins in the 2024 series honor:
Following the several-step selection procedure, the final 2024 quarter designs were released months ago. After reviewing 40 contenders, the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) and Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) presented Treasury Secretary recommendations.
Shows Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray's eyeglass-framed visage in the shape of "HOPE," symbolizing his belief that hope might change society. Another inscription in the design from her poem "Dark Testament": "Hope is "A SONG IN A WEARY THROAT". The inscriptions read "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "25₵," "THE REVEREND DR. The reverse (heads side) depiction of George Washington appears on all coins in the series. Laura Gardin Fraser produced the portrait of Washington on his 200th birthday in 1932.
