Aaron Rodgers 'Wants to Play' Despite Jets' Playoff Exit

The New York Jets were eliminated from the playoffs after losing to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but Aaron Rodgers is still trying to return.

Rodgers must be activated off IR by Wednesday to play this season, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport noted on Saturday that the Jets' game against the Dolphins "could go a long way" in determining his status.

If Rodgers rushes his comeback with the Jets out of the playoffs, he risks his long-term health. The 40-year-old quarterback mentioned it Dec. 2.

Rodgers appears to still be determined to return before the conclusion of the season after Achilles surgery after New York's first drive injury.

On Dec. 3, Rapoport wrote that "it's appearing unlikely that Rodgers plays in a game at all this season." The Jets' senior decision-makers may override him.

The Jets' offensive line has allowed 61 sacks this season, second in the NFL. It's risky to put Rodgers behind a substandard line before 2024 when he's not 100% healthy.
