According to recent reports, the Bears have broadened their search for a wide receivers coach.
It has been reported by Ian Rapoport that the team would conduct an interview with Ike Hilliard in order to fill the post of assistant offensive coordinator on the staff of Shane Waldron.
Hilliard was not involved in football during the previous year and instead served as the wide receivers coach for the Auburn Tigers in 2022
Halfway through the season, the Tigers decided to terminate head coach Bryan Harsin and offensive coordinator Eric Kiesau. As a result, Hilliard was promoted to the position of temporary co-OC.
A former first-round draft selection, Hilliard spent a total of twelve seasons in the National Football League (NFL) playing for both the Buccaneers and the Giants. As soon as his playing career came to an end, he became a coach, and he has eleven years of experience coaching at the National Football League level
Wide receivers were among the positions that Hilliard coached in the following cities: Miami (2011), Washington (2012, 2014-2019), Buffalo (2013), and Pittsburgh (2020-2021).
Earlier on Sunday, Tom Pelissero reported that the Bears will also interview Chris Beatty, the wide receivers coach for the Chargers, for the position of wide receivers coach for the Bears. Waldron was officially appointed by the Bears as their new offensive coordinator on Tuesday.
And then, three days later, they made the announcement that Kerry Joseph would be their new quarterbacks coach. Additionally, the Bears will be required to find a new coach for their running backs. Both the offensive line coach, Chris Morgan, and the tight ends coach, Jim Dray, were retained by the team.
