Crispy Smashed Broccoli Recipe

A social media feed full of tempting recipes won't let you miss the smashed food trend. Smashed potato and Brussels sprouts led to smashed cucumber salad, and now all vegetables are allowed.

4 cups broccoli florets 3 tablespoons olive oil 2 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed 1 teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon pepper ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika ½ cup shredded Parmesan



Heat oven to 400 F. A pot or pan with 2 inches of water should be low-boiled.

Put broccoli florets in a steamer basket over the bottom pot and lower the heat to medium.

Cover and cook broccoli on medium heat for 8-10 minutes until bright green and tender.

While the broccoli cooks, mix olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika in a small bowl.

Place each broccoli floret on a parchment-lined sheet pan after drying with a dish towel or paper towel.

Slam each floret with the bottom of a cup or mason jar. Coat each floret with seasoned oil.

Top each floret with Parmesan. Place in oven for 20 minutes until crispy.

A classic like roasted chicken with smashed broccoli is great. Serve the crispy smashed broccoli.
