El Niño winter is coming

LET'S START

It's not too early to start planning for this winter after Utah's unprecedented winter season last year.

In contrast to the previous three years of La Nia, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts an El Nio.

El Nio weather trend for the winter of 2023–2024.

The Climate Prediction Center estimated that there was a 95% likelihood that the current weather pattern will last until March 2024.

The probabilities of associated climate anomalies are frequently smaller than the odds of El Nio itself.

The center noted in the update, so a strong El Nio does not inevitably mean big repercussions locally.

Previous El Nio episodes have brought forth more precipitation and colder temperatures in the past.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac describes these colder temperatures for the south as “mild” and “wet.”
