Salted caramel brownies

Salted caramel brownies are fudgy with homemade caramel. Brownies contain caramel centers. Additional caramel is applied after baking. Caramel flavor throughout!

Ingredient

– 1 cup White granulated sugar – 4 tablespoon Unsalted butter room temperature and cubed – ½ cup Heavy cream room temperature – 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract – ½ teaspoon Salt – 1 ½ cups White granulated sugar – ½ cup Powdered sugar – 3 Large eggs room temperature – 1 Egg yolk – ½ cup Unsalted butter melted – ½ cup Oil canola or vegetable – 1 teaspoon Pure vanilla extract – 1 cup All-purpose flour – 1 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder I use dutch proce – 1 tablespoon Cornstarch – 1 teaspoon Salt – 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chip

Direction

Add sugar to a medium pot over medium heat. Wait for it to dissolve. Mix with a whisk. It will clump. Stir periodically until sugar is practically melted. Stir constantly until melted.

Let sit until amber. This happens seconds after melting. Stop cooking. Whisk in half the cubed butter until melted. Add remaining butter. Expect plenty of bubbles.

Add half the cream and whisk. Then add remaining cream. Add salt and vanilla. Heat the pan again. Continue mixing for 3 minutes. Pour into a glass measuring cup after removal from heat. Cool for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350℉. Use baking nonstick spray on a 9x9-inch square pan. Place parchment paper on the pan's bottom and sides. Spray again.Mix flour, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt in a medium basin. Set aside.

Sugar, powdered sugar, eggs, and egg yolk should be beat for 2 minutes on high speed in a mixer with a whisk attachmentStir melted butter, oil, and vanilla on low. Combine dry ingredients nearly fully.Turn off mixer and add chocolate chips. Stir with rubber spatula.

Place half the brownie batter in the pan. Pour half the salted caramel into the pan. Evenly distribute batter. Leave 1-inch pan border. This prevents baked caramel hardening. Add remaining brownie batter.

Bake 40–45 minutes. Brownies are done when a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs. With batter, bake for 5 more minutes.Cool brownies in the pan on a cooling rack.

Transfer brownies to a cutting board after cooling. Make small brownie holes with a skewer. Top with leftover caramel. Cover holes evenly.Let caramel seep into holes for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.
