Stained glass cookies recipe 

Sugar cookies are cut out and filled with crushed hard candies before baking to make stained glass cookies. These holiday cookies are simple but spectacular!

– 3 cups all-purpose flour spooned and leveled (375 grams) – 2 teaspoons baking powder – ½ teaspoon salt – 1 cup shortening (190 grams; I prefer Crisco) – 1 cup granulated sugar (200 grams) – 1 large egg at room temperature – 2 tablespoons whole milk

– 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract – 35 to 40 jolly ranchers I used 35 total, but crushed 50 to have extra

Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C. Wrap large baking sheets in parchment or silicone. Powder, flour, and salt. Mix shortening and sugar in another large dish for 1–2 minutes electrically.

Mix and scrape egg, milk, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Mix the crumbly mixture. Form dough balls by hand.

Bread half. For a ¼-inch thick roll, use two lightly floured parchment papers. Two parchment papers and half the dough. Crumble Jolly Ranchers and refrigerate both pans of cookie dough.

Recolorable Jolly Ranchers. Jolly Ranchers: cherry, raspberry, green apple. Processor crumbs one color. Color-sort jolly rancher crumbs into bowls. Break Jolly Ranchers in fridge-fresh cookie batter.

Peeling parchment. Place 2.5–3-inch cookie dough rounds on pans. Transfer cut-out cookies to baking pan with thin spatula. Strengthen scrap dough and cut parchment. Swap cookie dough sheet.

Similar cookie cutter centre-cutting. Toothpick-coring. Rolled cookies. Apply ½-1 tsp of Jolly Ranchers to the center of each cookie after cutting. JR, bitch. Bake without jolly rancher crumbs.

Center with a matching cookie cutter. Teethpick-cored. Cut, spread cookies. Crumble ½-1 tsp of Jolly Ranchers into the center of each cookie after cutting. Bake without jolly rancher crumbs.
