Texas Sheet Cake Recipe 

Texas sheet cake has a basic chocolate frosting and is moist buttermilk chocolate. Simple to prepare and feeds many! 

– 1 cup unsalted butter cut into small cubes (2 sticks; 230 grams) – ¼ cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder (22 grams) – ¾ cup water (180 ml) – 2 cups all-purpose flour spooned and leveled (250 grams) – 2 cups granulated sugar (400 grams) – 1 teaspoon baking soda – ½ teaspoon salt – ½ cup buttermilk at room temperature (120 ml)

Ingredient

– ¼ cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt at room temperature (60 grams) – 2 large eggs at room temperature – 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Direction

Bake the cake at 350°F (180°C). An 17" x 12" parchment-lined half-sheet pan with nonstick spray. Warm butter, cocoa powder, and water in a medium pot.

Whisk-boil. Set aside the mixture after boiling. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. In a medium bowl, mix buttermilk, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla.

Pour buttermilk and chocolate over dry ingredients and stir until mixed. Fill the pan with batter and spread it evenly.

Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 20–22 minutes on the center rack. Let cool while you make the frosting.
