Vanilla Cupcake Recipe

This handmade vanilla cupcake recipe tastes like vanilla! The frosting is rich and the cupcakes moist. This dessert is wonderful for any occasion! 

– 1 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour spooned & leveled (165 grams) – 1 ¼ teaspoons baking powder – ½ teaspoon salt – ½ cup unsalted butter softened (115 grams) – 1 cup granulated sugar (200 grams) – 2 large egg – 2 teaspoons vanilla extract – ½ cup full fat sour cream (120 grams)

Start oven at 350°F (180°C). Line 12-count muffin pans. A second muffin tray with two liners makes 14 cupcakes. Save. Blend flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.

Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment or a large bowl with a hand mixer until creamy. Mix vanilla into beaten eggs. Blend sour cream.

Be careful not to overmix the batter when you add the dry ingredients to the wet. Fill cupcake liners about half way with batter. You should get 14 cupcakes.

Baking cupcakes until a wooden toothpick put into the center comes out clean takes 18–22 minutes. Cool for a few minutes after baking. All cupcakes should be cooled on a wire rack.
