Oscar Tschirky, a maître d'hôtel at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, invented the Waldorf salad in the late 1800s using celery, apples, and mayonnaise.
Ingredient
– 1 pound chicken, cut into ½-inch cube– ½ tablespoon salt, plus more to taste– ½ tablespoon black pepper, plus more to taste– ¼ cup olive oil– 1 cup celery, chopped– 1 cup apples, peeled and diced– 1 cup grapes, halved– ¼ cup almonds, sliced– 1 teaspoon poppy seed– ¾ cup mayonnaise– 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

The chicken should be seasoned with salt and pepper.

Over medium heat, bring the oil to a simmer in the skillet.

It will take about 5 to 10 minutes of cooking after adding the chicken to the pan until all sides are golden brown.

Remove off the heat and let it cool down to room temperature.

Put the cooked chicken, celery, apples, grapes,\, and Dijon mustard in a big bowl and mix them all together until they are well mixed.

Add salt and pepper to taste. Cut up bread or crackers and serve.
